Meet Dr. Kate Ratliff, DDS

Board Certified Pediatric Dentist in Grand Blanc MI

Dr. Kate Ratliff

Dr. Kate is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and a founding member of Grand Blanc Pediatric Dentistry.  She has been practicing for over 10 years with extensive experience treating children, adolescents, and individuals with special needs.

Dr. Kate was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan but moved around frequently as a child, living in many different Midwestern states until completing high school back in the UP.  She completed her undergraduate degree at Michigan State University, graduating with a Bachelors degree in Microbiology.  Since her early days at MSU she has wanted to work as a medical professional treating children.  If you ask, she will attribute this to the fact that she is really a just a big kid at heart – she loves singing silly songs, dressing up at Halloween, children’s movies, etc.  Coupled with a seemingly infinite amount of patience and a compassionate heart, pediatric dentistry was a natural fit.

Dr. Kate continued on to dental school at the University of Michigan where she graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.  Following dental school, she moved to Marshfield, Wisconsin and practiced for three years – mainly treating children and patients with special needs at the Marshfield Clinic system.  It was here that she truly recognized her passion for the care of children and their oral hygiene.  She moved back to Michigan and completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan where she served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Kate is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Michigan State Board Certified Pediatric Dentist.   She is on staff at Hurley Medical Center in the department of surgery, performing full mouth rehabilitation under general anesthesia.  She is a member of the Genesee District Dental Society (where she volunteers as a board member), the Michigan Dental Association, American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Kate has been married to her husband Jonathon for over 10 years.  They met at Michigan State and have one daughter – Lillian Louise.  Their family loves travelling, especially to warm weather destinations.  Dr. Kate believes in treating every child as if they were her own.  She strives to provide a fun, safe,  and nurturing dental home for all of her patients.

Patient Testimonial By Meghann S

I take all my children here. After a bad experience at another pediatric office, my kids hated the dentist. Since we switched to GBPD my kids don’t scream or cry when it’s time to go to the dentist!
